My sphero challenge idea is to make a 1vs 1 soccer game. To do this we will have to make a soccer field with nets and get a ball the size of a fuseball ball. To make this game work you would have to make a play that you code to move and hit the ball to get it in the net. The attacking sphero can make their offensive play to get the ball in the net and the defensive player can make his/her move when they want. To try and prevent the other player from scoring and also try and get it in the opposing players net. The game will start off with one of the players going first and making their move to hit the ball. Then the it will be the other player's turn to make a play. It will be determine who goes first by a flip of a coin. First person to get 5 goals on the other players net will have won the game. The code that will have to be done to try and get the ball in the net might have to be complex and have a lot of scripts to work. The defensive side will also have to make a bit complex codes to try and predict in what direction the ball would be going in.
The special project I would want to do with my sphero is to make it do a jump. It would jump across a 15 cm space, off of a small ramp. The ramps would be made from cardboard and popsicle sticks put together with glue. To do this project I would have to make a little ramp about 15 cm high to put it in the air. One more ramp is needed for the spheros landing so it can continue to move forward. One ramp would be about 10 cm wide and the other ramp(landing ramp) would have to be about 15 cm wide. The landing ramp would have to be longer than the first ramp to keep it on course and not fall off. To make this project work I would have to make sure the sphero is angled straight and directly in front of the ramp. I would have to make the sphero go full speed on the first ramp to jump the space. The sphero can't go off course or turn a bit because it would ruin the outcome of when it hits the landing ramp. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/126641130/
My second scratch project was kinda of a success it had a lot of positive but has as much negatives. The score bored sometimes didn't reset and made it seem that the cat had more then 1 life (which it didn't) and tricked the player into thinking it was alright to die and still play on. The hit boxes of the asteroids were a bit bigger then it look so when you dodged it or thought you dodged it it would end the game and make you restart. The game also had a bug where if you were to click play the music would star but the game wouldn't. It would sometimes cause you too click it more then 3 times until it would start. The Nyan Cat sprite would change costumes if it would touch a astroides and would make it more of a effect of hitting it. The game also had different speeds of asteroids going towards the player which made the game harder and more challenging. The music with the game gives the real feelings of player Nyan cat with the dodging and the music it's like it's the real thing. That's my second scratch project negatives and positives. My first impression of robotics is that robot are difficult to program and to make them do exactly what you want them to do takes time and effort. The programs used on the robots seems hard to make for example on the spheros the coding doesn't look to complex, but to make it do what you want takes some time to understand. You need to imagine what your telling it to do and if what you're telling it to do isn't working you have to go back and look at your code. In robotics trial and error is what makes most of the coding, if it doesn't work look it over or add codes that would make sense to be there. I also like the fact that you can do so many things with your robot or sphero it feels like there's endless things you can do with it. I like the different things you can code, there is a lot of robots out there and a lot of codes to use. You can make it do what ever your imagination can think of which makes it have so many posibilities. In addition I think robotics is a fun and important thing to learn with technology becoming are everyday life. I think if we learn how to code and do other things with robots it will really help us in the future. Those are my first impressions about robotics, hope to learn a lot about this subject.
